I'm a guy in East Tennessee who smokes a few cigars a week on the porch and got tired of reviews that never met a cigar they didn't like.

This site has no face, no name, and no relationships with cigar companies to protect. That's the point. I buy at retail like you do, I smoke it like you would... sometimes with full attention down by the creek, sometimes half-distracted... and I write down what actually happened, including the relights, the tongue bite, and the ones I put down two-thirds in.

The pledge

Coverage here is never for sale. No review-for-product deals, no sponsored scores, no preview approval, ever. Every review wears a badge showing where the stick came from... my money, a steal, a friend's gift... and every verdict is judged at street price, not what I happened to pay. As of launch, every review on this site was bought with my own money. If that mix ever changes, the badges will tell you before I do.

Cigar reviews now. Gear reviews next... I own more lighters than any reasonable person needs, and half of what's written about gear online is by people who never carried it past the photo shoot. And pipe tobacco is coming... same rules, its own scale, and no recycled cigar notes pretending to be pipe knowledge.

New reviews show up when I smoke something worth writing about. No schedule, no filler.
